Birthday Boy Benny

Ben anxiously watches the clock wind down, in anticipation of the big "three/one" birthday celebration.

Alas, though, he has to arm-wrestle Daniel, to maintain his honorable birthright position as the firstborn son.

Having emerged victoriously, he is shown here with the most wonderful Ryke's cake! Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!!!

Finally, a celebration bonfire for Ben's birthday, and also to welcome the new year.

The birthday boy, basking in the glow of the bonfire.

Thanks, Mom, for this birthday post. It's almost as satisfying as "beating" Daniel at arm-wrestling.

Is the title of this post supposed to replace another triple "B" nickname we all know of?

I knew that title had a vague, yet familiar, ring to it, and now I know why! No replacinging here; it was just a temporary title for birthday purposes.

How perceptive, Lisa! I can always count on my siblings to point out those details I'd rather overlook.

Yes, the dark truth is that this post's title was meant to evoke one of my much more common nicknames: Benny Ben Ben. It's true. This is the shortened alternate version of a name given to me by my boss's two young sons, that longer nickname being "Benny the Benz Hot Dog in a Bun." Recently they've switched to the somewhat more streamlined "Benny Ben Ben Sausage Spicy."

I don't know where they come up with this stuff. If I did I'd steal the formula and sell it to Hollywood. Or the Russians. Or anyone who'd give me a dollar.

I concur with Ben, for I do remember him telling me of the bizarre nickname the two little boys gave him, however, that is not what Lisa was referring to. Nice try, Ben!

I'll have to remember to plant some nominally embarassing nicknames for myself to mask the truly embarassing ones. Then again, I don't think I can remember having an embarassing nickname.

"Silly Salamander" comes to mind for me! Dad ought to be able to help out here; his memory seems to be much better than mine!

"Silly Salamander" doesn't have quite the same ring to it as "Ba_____ B__ Ben". It's more endearing.

Maybe not the same ring, and definitely endearing, but ohhhh sooo sneaky!
