Snowy Scenes from Muskegon!

About a week ago, we had a couple of good snowfalls, and it was interesting to see how deep the snow got, in places. Thought you might enjoy a few pictures. Also, they've lost the "battle" on Giles Rd. The pictures tell it all! And finally, a lovely sunset over Lake Michigan (Pere Marquette Park.)

The battle was lost because the soldiers on my side became sympathetic to the enemy troops. I have to rout the enemy from my headquarters almost daily now. At least I have the satisfaction of seeing very guilty looks on the enemy's faces whenever I enter the room and they peer nervously at me from their perch on the couch.

It's good to see you finally got the pictures to post, Mom. I can't help but think that your blogger support is faulty, though, since most of the pictures in the post open as the picture before or after when you click on them.

Thanks for making us all aware of the sheer leniency towards certain dogs around the house. I'm sure they didn't learn it from Fletcher. Next they'll be dressing up in people clothes - Oh! They already did that. Someone has to keep those dogs in check. It's time to get a cat.

By the looks of the breakwater it has been a mild winter (though not lacking snow). In the days of my youth, I remember the ice building up 10 to 15 feet thick above the walk out past the bend. In fact, I think some of my relatives braved the ridge all the way to the lighthouse.

Pray, tell Mother what child(ren) risked life and limb to reach the lighthouse, under such treacherous conditions? It was bad enough for me, with what you see in the picture (yes, I went all the way out there!) so I can only imagine ice buildup of 10 to 15 ft. You're not telling one of those "Grandpa" stories of how bad it was in the olden days, are you? The things I find out, now that you kids are older!
