The view from my window

For anyone I didn't talk to before I left (almost everyone) I am in the Bahamas with Casi and several of her friends and family. She decided to have her next birthday in the Bahamas (her 30th) so we all got cheap tickets and rented a big house to stay in.

Here's the view from my window:

So far everything has been good - although we went through most of yesterday without any water...which meant no toilets.  Apparently it was an island-wide problem.  Now that the water is back on, I've been going as often as possible to ensure that I will have just gone if the water goes out again. That's what I call smart.

You know, when I think of the Bahamas, I don't think about grand vistas or beautiful beaches. I just think about pests. Where are the photos of earwigs, sowbugs, millipedes, silverfish, cat fleas, centipedes, and malaria-carrying mosquitos? I'm not sure I'll believe you're actually in the Bahamas until I see some bug pics.

Wow! What a view, Janell! Soak it up; it may be awhile before you get back there, for a beautiful view like that. Though, Lake Michigan boasts some beautiful scenery too. A little cooler, perhaps, but pretty, nonetheless. I like your logic, though I'd hate to see you become obsessed with being prepared, and spending most of your time in the ladies' room! Somehow I don't think that will really be a problem! Your pictures match my perspective of the Bahamas. How come you think of all those icky bugs, Ben? Makes me think of 7th grade insect collections!

Wait a minute. Aren't the parents who worked and scrimped for years supposed to do things like go to the Bahamas while the kids take their turn in the barrel scrimping and working? Something's not right here.
