While I wouldn't consider myself unlucky, I can think of many times when Ben and Steve seemed quite a bit luckier than I did. There were the times when they got to be the good guys, and I'm pretty sure I was the Russians. (yes, plural) The times they got to use the secret underground tunnel from Terre Haute that went right into Grandma Barnhart's back yard, but which was never in working order when I wanted to try it. Then there was the time they found clay (even better than playdoh!) in the woods at Uncle Dick and Aunt Diane's house - I was beside myself with envy.
But tonight, when I least expected it, I was supremely lucky. I walked into the grocery store and picked a random cart to use, and there waiting for me, was the luckiest thing of all.
A milk knife. Ben and Steve, eat your heart out.

Ooh, and that's a good one. Fine counter-balancing and well-honed edges both complement the hardened plastic inner body. I can tell this knife was fashioned by a true milk knife artisan.
Use it well, Janell. For the milk knife that falls into the wrong hands is the most dangerous milk knife of all.
Very rare, haven't seen one in years. This is a good omen.
I was looking for a milk knife just the other day. I think our grocer collects them for himself. We should stand up for our rights - the right to bear a milk knife.
Congratulations, Janell. You're a good guy now.
Jeepers! I knew you kids collected these things, but didn't know they were so coveted. It does look mighty familiar, though unseen in these parts. You could hang onto your prized treasure, Janell, or maybe do some bartering for clay, or info. to another passage to Grandma Barnhart's back yard, say...from Aurora. I'm sure Ben and Steve are privy to such information. Gotta tell ya, though, none of your sibs were as lucky as you, when it came to spotting a stray nickle, dime, or quarter! Couldn't find anything else, but coins did not escape your eagle eye! Not so lucky, though, when it came to falls, bumps, bobbypins, toboggans, Mexican heat, wisdom teeth, spiders, etc. etc. etc.
