I hope you can feel the drywall dust under your fingernails
For those of you who haven't sanded drywall in a while (or ever), I just want to post a few pictures to remind you of how pleasant an experience it can be.

Oh, my stars! What a tedious and messy job, Ben. Sure hope your mask did a good job of what it was intended to do. Maybe for a birthday gift, we could all chip in to pay for hiring help to clean up. It would be Mother's nightmare (the mess, not your face:)

Wow, looks great - It's great to see this progress, Ben. Make sure you look at it with a strong side light before you call it done - some of those ridges and humps hide pretty well. Of course, you can always have Andy fix it.
I'm probably more likely to show the kids your dusty photo than to show them David's elfified animation of the Barnhart men, er.. elves (if I did, it would be to warn them of the dangers of jazzy music).
But haven't you heard of dustless joint compound? Actually, what kind of mud did you use? And what kind of drywall for that matter? Has anyone tried the new lightweight drywall? I have drywall in my (near) future, so I want to know. And by near, I mean it could happen before 2015.
Nice work, Ben. Steve hasn't actually sanded much drywall at our house (the pantry door is mostly it as of now) - I've had the pleasure (so far) of doing that. I envy thee not in that regard. Though, it really is much easier to get this sort of project done without munchkins who really like to scrape the drywall mud with their fingernails or other sharp implements to make "lines" and pictures in it. Then it requires more mud, more sanding, etc. We're just leaving it until we're ready to fully complete the project. :) Looking forward to seeing "the finished project!"

I tried to warn you kids of the dangers of the jazzy music you wanted to secretively listen to. I did my best, but to no avail:(

Ben, I'm not using your picture to scare my child, I'm using it to scare myself! Sheesh!! It's like the abominable snowman, except scary.
I should give you my drywall hawk to use, if you have more work to do. It's a lot easier than working out of a pan. You can scrap your blade off on the other 3 sides when you get crud in the mud.
