Most (maybe all) of you know that I bought a set of appliances a couple weeks back, and I've been slowly installing them and transferring my kitchen stuff over to the new kitchen. Everything's working, and I've been using the new kitchen for the past week. So far, the highlights are having more countertop space (about four times as much!) and having a dishwasher. The new kitchen is also a lot brighter (though that's hard to tell in these photos, which were taken at night). It's actually kind of hard to capture the space and how nice it really is. So you should all come visit sometime (maybe not all at the same time) to see it in person. I think it's at least 67% better in person.
Here's the view from one end of the kitchen (the patio door is behind you here).
And the view from the other end of the kitchen.
And here's the kitchen with the dining room in the foreground.
I was just going to post about the kitchen, but my new laundry appliances started whimpering, so I agreed to include them too.
And here's a little bud of rhubarb that peeked out of the ground about two weeks ago. As I type this, this bud has already grown about six inches and has three or four good stalks going. Time for some rhubarb dishes soon. And now I've got the kitchen for it.

Ben, have you been cooking with Wipe On Poly again? You know how much trans fats that has!
Glad to see everything's in its right place and humming away. The kitchen looks like a real pleasure to cook in!
Aw, man. You know nothing gives chicken that crispy skin like wipe-on poly...
A far cry from that ugly old middle room at the bottom of your stairway that is now a nice dining room, and a room with a painted particle board purple floor that is now the kitchen. Good work Ben, however I don't give you the Speedy Remodel award, it took a year or two too long for that.
The whimpering is the washer wishing the dryer would get off it's back.
Wow! What a transformation, Ben! Looks great, and I can imagine how thankful you are, not only to have the "new" and greatly improved kitchen, but also because you well know what it took to create it! Very nice!
Whoa! You have those green plastic bins too?!? I just thought I would comment on the least remarkable thing in this post. The rest was too awe-inspiring for me to provide appropriate accolades.
Ok, I confess; I'm confused. Will someone please enlighten me about the last comment.
Janell, I'm a little disappointed. Plastic bins are very exciting, and now we're going to get comments from "hann" about the ease, usability, and cheapness of plastic bins. I wish you would have said something about the missing Ferrari, or maybe a fountain pen...
Mom, I think we got comment-spammed by a robot named "hann." Companies will setup robots (or bots) that just troll blogs and messageboards and try to leave comments that seem as if they were real. It's all just programming, but I bet "hann" saw enough "kitchen" keywords in my post that it decided to leave a comment about a place where I could buy great stone countertops.
And thanks, hann. We'd like to welcome you to our family blog, intended to share details and pictures from the disparate Barnhart family. I always knew we had some AI cousins living on the virtual grid, and it's good to hear from you now. Please say hello to Tron and the MCP for me.
No kidding?
Thanks for your warm welcomes. End of line.
hmmmmmm, Ben, you must be confused. Those are pictures of MY new kitchen!
