Well, it's no baby boy, but I'm just about as proud of these cabinets as Steve and Rachel are of Peter. Here's a photo of the cabinets I've installed so far.
A couple of you knew that I needed to cut one of my upper wall cabinets in half and make two smaller cabinets out of it. Here's a shot of that cabinet in two pieces:
And here's a shot of one half reconstructed and ready for installation. (In the first photo, this cabinet is the one just left of my head.):
Very nice, looks great Ben, does this mean Thanksgiving Dinner will be cooked for the family in your kitchen this year? I'll bring the toothpicks.
ReplyDeleteToothpicks? Sounds like I missed a really great Thanksgiving Dinner somewhere along the way...or perhaps Dad is just planning to cram his teeth full of so much turkey that he'll need his very own stash of them.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, I'm very impressed. I feel confident that I've waited so long to visit your house that it will be comfortable and luxurious by the time I get there. Like my own little vacation home. But don't worry, I'll let you stay while I'm there.
That's great, Ben. Must be nice to have a full-service wood shop next door.
ReplyDeleteLooking good, Ben! Is the cabinet in the corner supposed to be at an angle, or did you have to re-make that one to fit that way? Looks nice. Are the cupboards below in place permanently, too, or just kind of? So glad for your progress!
ReplyDeleteTrick photography, all the cupboards are at wierd angles but appear straight when viewed from upside down. Ben is building another Mystery Spot tourist stop like the one in the U.P..
ReplyDeleteWell, it's good to see the UP is being remembered for something.
ReplyDeleteIt may come as a surprise, but I have found that attaching cabinets in place permanently is purely optional. Over 60% of our base cabinets are not attached and they haven't moved an inch since they were set in place. I'm hoping that the trend will continue and the cabinets will actually paint themselves and re-install their own doors and hardware.
Dream on, Steve!
