You can thank Lisa

I wasn't going to post pictures of my new cabinet because I figured you're probably getting tired of witnessing my glacial progress ("Hmmm, great, Ben got a piece of trim installed..."), but Lisa said she wanted to see these photos. So you're stuck with them. Ha.

The cabinet pieces.

Putting the pieces together.

Fitting the top and bottom halves together. If you're wondering why there's an iron on the bottom shelf, I was using it to install edge veneer on the plywood edges. The edge veneer is very thin and has a glue backing that melts when you iron it on.

The finished cabinet (uninstalled).

The finished cabinet (installed). And with the countertop base, also.

The new cabinet from another angle, which lets you see the rest of the countertop run.

  1. I'm with Lisa, I was just checking news and weather on Google and thought, I wonder if Ben posted any pictures of the cabinet yet, I knew you were working on it. So this is very interesting to me. I think the cabinet looks very nice. This is going to be a good looking kitchen when you get it done. Glaciers may be slow, but they don't stop moving until they get where they are going.

  3. Pretty impressive, Ben! I'm especially intrigued with the iron-on veneer. Seems like the iron would melt it, but apparently not. Funny, even as I type this, I've caught a whiff of something that has gotten too hot! Power of suggestion? Has me looking around to see if I've forgotten about something I turned on! Hope the cupboard work continues to go well. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
