Dig this

For the discriminating Barnhart child, the DOS game Digger provided hours upon hours of entertainment back in the good ol' days of CGA. And the game's soundtrack was burned into my memory . . . I mean, that discriminating child's memory. So imagine my surprise when I learned that this song was not just the soundtrack to Digger, but actually a song called "Popcorn" by a band named Hot Butter.

Does it get any better than that? Well, it does if you want to play Digger online. Enjoy the decline of your productivity.

  1. This sounds vaguely familiar. Interesting, the music existed before the game and apart from it! It seems so fitting for the game, yet I'm reasonably sure whoever created the song had absolutely no idea what the song would be used for, one day, and become so associated with!

  2. Wow, that's really interesting. I never would've guessed this was a) a real song and b) as old as it is. Pretty progressive sounds for a song from the late 60's. Cool Ben!

  3. I think I remember hearing that music every time Nikki and Twila started digging up my back yard. Video games have become reality.

  4. Thanks a lot, Ben. Not only have I had this magnificent song stuck in my head for 24 hours, but I am now addicted to playing Digger online. I'm pretty sure the school will understand that parents and students will have to wait while I finish my levels

  5. Andy walked past as I was playing this song and said "Is this a Barnhart thing?" I'm not sure what to do with that, but it makes me think we Barnharts are quite easily identified by our vices.
