A Trip to the Lake
We enjoyed the classic Barnhart treatment of a hot day today by picking up a pizza and heading for the lake. We made sure to sit in open sun just in case we cooled off before we could go for a dip. It was still plenty hot for a swim, and a dip in Lake Superior was just the thing to cool down. The kids were also enjoying their newfound skills after graduating from this summer's swim lessons.
And what would a swim be without time to play in the sand?

did the girls like swim lessons? can they swim on their own in the water now? it looks like you had a beautiful time at the beach :)
The girls really liked swimming lessons after a little initial hesitation, as did Peter. Ella can swim pretty well with a life jacket and was jumping off the diving board on day 2. Elisabeth and Peter worked on getting comfortable with the water and trying to float or use their hands. Peter surprised me with his pace of learning. Elisabeth was somewhat stubborn, as usual.
Elisabeth? Stubborn? Noooooo...
