Day Seven: heavy rains and everyone winds yesterday slowed progress to a grinding halt. We trekked not even 20 miles through torrential rains and hurricane winds before stopping outside a house with a bible verse sign out in front of it. Knocking and asking for a lift, we meet some very humble, loving Mennonites that gave us a ride to the next town up the road where we got a motel for the night. Today we're covering the remaining 105 miles to Buffalo and right now we've gone 60. Thank God for Tim Horton'sv restaurants, the Canadians seem to love them up here. They're in almost every major town. Without good old Timmy's, our steady diet of champion food and WiFi connection would be non-existent. Next stop: Buffalo

I hear Lake Erie is a windy lake maybe you were getting the effects from that. Hope the riding gets better. Do you have hills ahead in New York?
Thank goodness for the Mennonite family that helped you! I am curious, though, how did they transport you two, and your bikes? Did they have a truck, or a trailer? I wouldn't think they would necessarily be equipped to haul bikes, via bike carriers. Very glad that God provided help when you really needed it!
There are different types of Mennonites. Some wouldn't use motorized vehicles (like old order mennonites - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Order_Mennonite) but others do (conservative mennonites - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservative_Mennonites or even modern mennonites).
Thanks, Steve. I did do a little reading and learned as much, but still wouldn't think the family they encountered would necessarily have a bike carrier, to be able to haul the boys' bikes.
