Here's the old panel—pretty messy, and not altogether safe.
Here are the two panels side by side. In this picture, the old panel (on the left) is being backfed from the new panel (on the right). That way I had power in my house between the time when the power company switched over the outside wires and I when I finally finished transferring over the circuits.
The new panel, with all the circuits moved over. Pending a final inspection, this job is done.
The lonely, old panel. Poor old panel, locked out of its electricity. I'll put you back...
Outside the house, the new mast along with the new wire running to it.

That is one handsome looking electrical panel, Ben! No kidding... I'm impressed! And you lived to tell/post about it; whew! I was more than a little nervous about this project. Good job and glad it's done:)
but Ben...the new panel looks so shiny and neat and organized. How will you ever have an "accidental" electrical fire that you can then claim millions in insurance money on if you have such a safe panel? This seems like very poor planning on your part...
So... which one's the new one and which one is old? Just kidding - just a little panel envy...
Our blog had a record number of page hits this week. After digging into the details it appears that Dad was refreshing the blog every three minutes. Thank you, Ben, for posting these pictures and mercifully ending Dad's denial-of-service rampage.
I'm really glad I know the back story or I'd be pretty confused right now. Honestly I still am a bit confused, but I'm just going to let this one go.
